Area 3 is the Over 2's where your child will progress to after their
second birthday, providing both parents and staff are happy for
them to move. The Over 2's is organised and supervised by Clare
(B.Tec & Senior Officer in charge) and her team.
In this
area we operate a grouping system whereby the children work together
in small groups, supervised by their own key worker.
Many activities take place in this area such as
drawing / writing skills, hand control, baking, painting, playdough,
role play, home corner, story time etc. along with many more activities
during outdoor playtime.
The over 2's have their own large playground containing bikes, a climbing
frame, footballs, hoops and many more, which altogether amounts to a
very exciting area that fully encourages the children's cognitive development
throughout the day. Here the children will take part in various activities
where a sharing environment will be central to the development if practical
manipulation, social and communication skills. Through experimentation,
children will learn the value of discovery leading to new adventure.
Programmes of imaginative play will
sow important seeds of the ability to cope with, and solve problems.
Both visual and coordination skills
will be nurtured through painting and colouring activities. These experiences
will promote language development, manipulative skill and memory recall
which when enriched with regular storytelling, will stimulate the imagination.
